You can find the Nobeoka Botanical Gardens in Crea Park, approximately 5km to the west of central Nobeoka City. It has an area of 8.7 square hectares and is surrounded by secondary forest, ancient tumulus and paddy fields.
In the garden there are three observatories, some agreeable promenades meandering through the trees, a spacious grassed area and an open space with athletic facilities and playground equipment. You can also enjoy grass sliding there. There are seed and flower beds, iris gardens, mandarin orange gardens and fields where flowers of the four seasons bloom. The Botanical Gardens produces 200,000 seedlings each year as a floral supply centre. Gardening classes are held at the attached Green Help Office three to four times a month, with the motto, "We aim to increase citizens' interest and knowledge in plants and have them become more familiar with home gardening."
Admission to the Botanical Gardens is free.
Opening hours: 8:30am-5:00pm. The garden is closed from December 29 to January 3.
Approximately 20 minutes by car from JR Nobeoka Station.
