Golden Games in Nobeoka

Golden Games in Nobeoka

Every May the Golden Games, a Western style track race, is held at the Nishishina Athletic Field. Top athletes from around the world and within Japan, including members of the local Asahi Chemical Company Track and Field Team, battle it out in a heated race with their eyes on new track records. The spectator stands enclose each of the six courses, close enough to be able to hear the athletes' steady breathing and crashing footsteps as they race around the course, a particular feature of the Golden Games. At night events, under the illumination of the spotlights, as the crowd cheers beating on signboards, the entire arena is engulfed in enthusiasm.
